JBH Structural Concrete Erects 30 Foot "Full Liquid Heat" Radius Wall for Fontana Library Project
HCS-Cutler's Builders' ResourceEverything for the Contractor and More
Dedication and determination paid off when Fontana was finally awarded $14.9 million from the state in order to build a new library. Once the news of the Fontana Library Grant was received, the City Staff in Fontana went right to work, completing designs and finalizing a grant agreement for construction of the facility. The state-of-the-art FontanaLibrary and Resource Technology Center is now a work in progress. The new, modern multi-level 92,500 square foot facility will replace the 40-year-old, 1300 square foot building that previously housed the Fontana Library. JBH Structural Concrete has been on this job since February of this year, pouring the footings, walls, columns and decks, says Bill Hoover, General Forman for JBH. The 30 foot high elegant radius wall is the focal point of the Library and is the first thing you see when you enter this job site. “The full liquid head walls on this project at thirty feet high and twelve inches thick are challenging”, says Hoover and it takes a lot of experience and “know how”. “Mike Murphy, General Superintendent for JBH, agrees. Buck Quigley, HCS-Cutler Account Manager for JBH says his cell phone is on 24/7 for anything these guys need, whenever they need it. The HCS-Cutler truck is a familiar sight on this project. “We’ve delivered many truck loads of product including ladders, tool boxes, power tools, threaded rod, nails, fall protection, form oil, bond breaker, sealers, Ardex, diamond blades, grinding wheels, bag products, OSHA Caps, Rapid Set, wood chamfer, form savers and much more”, says Quigley, “I want to show JBH the level of service HCS-Cutler can provide and they deserve on a job this size.” JBH is owned by Jeff Hale and Gary Conover and have been working on jobs like this for Douglas E. Barnhart, Builder for the Fontana Library, and other builders since they started JBH Structural Concrete 10 years ago. Even though the City will be constructing the new library, it will still be a part of the San Bernardino County Library system. The facility will also have a 350-seat auditorium. With its landmark clock tower, the Fontana Library and Resource Technology Center will set the standard for design of all future civic center projects as well as help with the revitalization of the historic downtown area.
