Mayor’s Gala will be held in Fontana on March 31Article Date: March 16, 2007Fontana Herald NewsMayor Mark Nuaimi and his wife Susanne will be hosting the Fifth Annual Mayor’s Gala benefiting Fontana’s new regional Library and Resource/Technology Center on Saturday, March 31. The popular event will be held at the Paul Biane Pavilion, 16581 Filbert Avenue in Fontana. Guests will have an evening of dinner, dancing and entertainment with a silent auction and a photographic history of Fontana. Mark Nuaimi will be delivering his annual State of the City Address during the program. “It’s an elegant evening for adults to come out and support their community as well as literacy in Fontana,” said Susanne Nuaimi, chair of the gala planning committee. “It’s a chance for Fontana residents, boosters, and their friends to get dressed up and have fun.” Elaborate decorations will transport the pavilion into an Italian-themed journey back in time to Fontana’s heritage. Proceeds from the black-tie requested affair will benefit the growing Library Fund, which will support the library which is under construction I downtown Fontana. The evening will include dance music, entertainment (with three comedians), wine tasting, and opera. A silent auction featuring items ranging from gift baskets to backyard décor and fountains as well as vacation trips and getaways will augment the fundraising effort, Susanne Nuaimi said. “It takes us all year to plan. We have fun with it and there is something for everyone,” she said. “They are an amazing group and we all have a wonderful time putting it all together and attending. In fact, we’ve had friends from all over come and enjoy themselves and leave very happy and full of compliments.” “Over the past four years, the committee has raised more than $250,000 for worthwhile causes thanks to the Mayor’s Gala. A reception and silent auction will begin at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. with entertainment, the State of the City Address, and dancing to follow.
