A Penny for Your Thoughts and Your Internet Search

Press Release: June 28, 2007

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FONTANA, CALIF. – The Mayor and City Council are pleased to announce the Fontana Library Foundation has recently been approved as a GoodSearch recipient. This is great news for our community as GoodSearch will help the new Lewis Library and Technology Center procure funds for building and service enhancements by literally giving the Library pennies for our thoughts… or at least our Internet searches.

GoodSearch.com is a new Yahoo-powered search engine, with a unique social mission; every time someone uses GoodSearch, money is generated for the not-for-profit organization of their choice. GoodSearch donates half of its revenue-- about a penny per search-- to the organization selected by its users. These pennies quickly add up. For example, if 1000 Fontana Library Foundation supporters searched twice a day, the Foundation would receive an estimated $7,300 per year from GoodSearch!

“We know there are a lot of people who want to do good but may not have the time or the money to help out.” said Ken Ramberg, Co-Founder of GoodSearch. “GoodSearch makes it as easy as possible. We’ve taken something people do every day -- searching the Internet -- and have turned it into doing good.

"It is a simple way to receive funds for a worthwhile cause. Use GoodSearch.com like any other search engine, but each time you do, money is generated for the Fontana Library Foundation.  Simply go to www.goodsearch.com and enter Fontana Library Foundation for the “charity” you would like to support.

Set to open in the spring of 2008, the new, 93,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art Lewis Library and Technology Center is currently under construction, and will be a place where people can meet, study, read, attend programs, and engage in a variety of other of  lifelong learning opportunities. The Lewis Library and Technology Center will feature a children’s storytelling center, homework center, literacy center, career center, 330-seat auditorium, clock tower, young adult cyber cafe, coffee bar, and a local history and genealogy room.
