LIBRARY/ TECH CENTER GETS $100,000 GRANTArticle Date: November 16, 2007By Mary Bender, Press-EnterpriseThe Lewis Library and Technology Center, under construction along Sierra Avenue in Fontana’s downtown, has received a $100,000 donation from a local real estate developer. David Wiener, whose family owns DW Development Inc. and M4 Management Inc., made the contribution to help pay for the branch, which will be part of the San Bernardino County Library system. The two story, 93,000 square foot library is scheduled to open in spring 2008. The nonprofit Fontana Library Foundation is aiming to raise $20 million in private donations for the library. The library’s total estimated cost is $60 million. Wiener donated $60,000 in memory of two friends, former Fontana mayor and city councilman Nat Simon, who died in 2001, and former Fontana city councilman and treasurer Charles Koehler, who died in 2002. |
